Beck’s gamble is based on the expectation that people will increasingly shift to viewing Web programming through their televisions. It is an untested move, and Beck has acknowledged the risks: “I think we might be a little early. But I’d rather be ahead of the pack than part of it.”His self-titled show will run for two hours on weekday afternoons. Beck promises a variety of content, and insists that GBTV will not be just a news outlet.
“If you’re a fan of Jon Stewart, you’re going to find something on GBTV that you’re going to enjoy,” said Beck. “If you’re a fan of ‘24,’ you’re going to find something on GBTV that you’re going to enjoy.”
GBTV.com’s first webcast is scheduled for June 8 at 7 p.m. eastern.
