Seinfeld had the Soup Nazi, and now it appears California farmers are being treated to the Water Nazi in the form of the Atlas Shrugs sounding “U.S. Bureau of Reclamation”, which refuses to allot vast reserves of water to farmers who find themselves being cut off from a sustainable living.  Perhaps “Let them eat dirt” is the new mantra of the Obama White House?

California farmers won’t get federal water

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Without a lot more rain and snow, many California farmers caught in the state’s drought can expect to receive no irrigation water this year from a vast system of rivers, canals and reservoirs interlacing the state, federal officials announced Friday.
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation released its first outlook of the year, saying that the agency will continue to monitor rain and snow fall, but the grim levels so far prove that the state is in the throes of one of its driest periods in recorded history.
Farmers who rely on the federally run Central Valley Project received only 20 percent of their normal water allotment last year and were expecting this year’s bad news. Some communities and endangered wildlife that rely on the federal water source will also suffer deep cuts.  LINK

Lack of water is not the only reason for the California farmers’ plight.  Here is a excerpt from a just published article by Capital Press:
Environmental interests, part of the president’s base, litigate any and all attempts to reduce allocations for endangered species. Obama has signaled his call for compromise doesn’t extend to changes in environmental policy.
Earlier in the week the White House said Obama would veto a bill passed by the House of Representatives that would relax environmental protections for the endangered fish and provide more water for farmers.   LINK

And you want to know what a byproduct of the federal government’s continued stranglehold on California’s water supply is?  Billions of dollars of produce crops will shift from California to places in Mexico and Central and South America.  Once again, Barack Obama is purposely reducing jobs in the United States in favor of jobs for other nations abroad.
Just another push toward the looming ledge of economic insolvency.     -UM
