Talkbacks (2) Former defense minister and Kadima MK Shaul Mofaz and Homefront Commander Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan warned the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that "in the next war," missiles and rockets will rain down on every part of the country.
Mofaz told the committee that in the next war, "population centers in the State of Israel will become the front lines." There needs to be a switch made in the our heads, he added, "You will be on the front lines."The state, he said, will have to deal with "a reality even more dramatic than in the past, where rockets are likely to be fired into population centers."
The state needs to operate under the assumption that "in every population center Israel, a great number of rockets" will fall."
Homefront Commander Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan warned of a similar reality. He said that Israel's enemies have weapons with a longer range and larger arsenals with more accurate arms.
There will be gas outages and desalination plants will suffer from breakdowns, he warned. The larger warheads Israel's enemies are equipped with present a "much more significant threat," he said.
Additionally, "dozens of medium-range missiles could reach Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, as well as a few long-range missiles."
