Amazon: Streaming Video Coming To Kindle, Says Detwiler

Detwiler Fenton’s consumer research team this morning apprises us that they have heard that the rumored color version of Amazon.com’s (AMZN) Kindle, expected later this year, and supposedly code-named “Hollywood,” will include a streaming movie service for playback on the device, which service will apparently be available for free to the first wave of buyers of the device.

Detwiler thinks Hollywood and other e-readers will be the vast majority of tablet computers sold outside of Apple’s (AAPL) iPad. They further argue Chinese and other manufacturers of low-priced tablets will put pressure on Motorola Mobility (MMI) and Research in Motion (RIMM). Those two may sell only 1 million tablet units this year, they think.
