Wall Street Insider Revisited – The Keystone Trap of Barack Obama…

With today’s breaking news of yet another energy policy showdown which includes Barack Obama once again coming out against construction of the Keystone pipeline that would result in a significant source of energy being transported from American-friendly Canada, we look back on this very same subject seen through the prism of Wall Street Insider’s admitted direct involvement in the issue:

First, excerpts from a just-published report via The Hill:

The White House on Tuesday threatened to veto House legislation to extend transportation programs because it contains GOP language that mandates approval of the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline.

…The threat continues the political thrust-and-parry between the White House and Republicans over the controversial project that is increasingly at the center of election-year energy battles.

Republicans and business groups have in recent months launched a political assault against the White House over the lack of a permit for Keystone, alleging Obama is missing a chance to boost U.S. energy security and create thousands of jobs.

_______________

And now Wall Street Insider’s position on this very controversy, shared with us over a month ago:

UM: Could the Israelis be intentionally creating a bit of chaos in the Middle East to cause gas prices to rise this summer which wouldplay out against the Obama campaign?

(Long silence)

UM: You got a problem with the question?

WSI: Not often…but sometimes you…such a question indicates this is a political matter for the Jewish nation. Politics? Really? Would you think so little of what Israel now faces? Iran…a people ruled by religious fanatics who openly call for the complete and total destruction of Israel. Is such a…is such a condition politics? No – it is survival. THAT is what the Jewish people face now. Have faced for some time. This president is playing politics yes – Barack Obama and those around him…yes. Playing politics with every man, woman, and child living in Israel. This president worries over gas prices with little regard to the impact those prices have on Americans, but only through the prism of how those prices may hurt his short term political outlook. He has created the dynamic, and yes, some will use it against him – as they should.

But…the Jewish nation is not involved in that game…for them this is no game. This is life or this is death. And that truth appears to be of far less concern to Mr. Obama.

UM: Who are those “some” who will use the gas price issue against Obama?

WSI: Republicans. Business. Wall Street…(pause)…ME.

UM: Did you – did any of you…”trap” Obama on the issue? With Keystone? The use of the environmental lobby?

WSI: You wish for a direct answer?

UM: Yes – that would be a welcome change.

WSI: Yes – we did.

UM: So you are saying Israel isn’t playing politics with the issue in the Middle East – but you are more than willing to play politics with the issue of higher gas prices here in America. That the American consumer will have to suffer because of those politics? Families trying to make ends meet – and you and others are pushing up gas prices for the summer to use against Obama?

WSI: No – I didn’t say that.

UM: Ok then – explain what you meant.

WSI: The subject of domestic energy…it is one that impacts all Americans. It impacts their everyday lives…it impacts the security of the country. Barack Obama…he…since he became president has waged a war on American energy. He and those around him have worked to reform this country’s energy policy into a version…a purely ideological version which examples such as Solyndra are there for all to see. If the media was but impartial to what this administration has done in that regard…I believe…this president would now be facing criminal charges. He has been protected and coddled from the outset, and has grown very comfortable in that environment – where so little accountability is required of him.
